Firefox 4 now on Android

Mozilla's Firefox 4 is now available as an Android app.  Some of the features include Twitter integration, tabbed browsing and the ability to save images from websites to a PDF format.

Google launches In-App Billing

Google announced the launch of Android Market In-App Billing for developers and users. Developers can publish apps that utilize it, and users can make purchases within the app.

Apple's ipad2 will be coming soon to Radio Shack

RadioShack stores in the U.S. will begin selling the iPad 2 on tuesday at possibly 500 U.S. RadioShack locations according to several inside sources.

A new update of LauncherPro is available in the Market

LaucherPro, the homescreen replacement app, now has a new version available 0.8.4 in the android market. Version 0.8.4 includes a 3D app drawer for Gingerbread users and  a new Gmail widget for Plus users.

Acer Iconia TabA501 coming soon AT&T

The Acer Iconia Tab A501 will feature a 10.1-inch 1280x768 display, 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor, 5 megapixel rear camera, a "high definition" FFC, and Android 3.0.  Look for this tablet to be released by AT&T sometime this summer.

US Cellular Mesmerize updated to Android 2.2

Good news for US Cellular  Mesmerize customers, the phone has finally been finally updated to Froyo Android version 2.2.  This update gives the phone the ability to play flash video and adds other enhancements.  The update can be found at US Cellular's website  at www.uscellular.com/androidupgrades

HBO now on Android

HBO has an official app available on the Android Market.  You can't watch full episodes, but you can get a show's schedule, see clips from upcoming shows and get info.  There is a home screen widget that shows the  schedule and you can get a reminder  when a show is coming on right on your phone.

Amazon App Store Now Open

The Amazon App store is open on the internet now, and Angry Birds Rio can be downloaded for free from the store.  In order to download Angry Birds you will have to to disable the third party apps option within your android phone.  AT&T android customers are out of luck because that option is locked out by AT&T directly.  Some time will have to pass by before it can be determined whether the Amazon App store will be a success or a failure

AT&T buys T-Mobile

AT&T and Deutsche Telekom have entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of T-Mobile USA for $39 billion in cash and stocks. One of the biggest questions about this deal is whether T-Mobile will continue as a seperate brand or just be absorbed into AT&T.  So far the response from most cellphone customers are negative.  The deal does have to approved by federal regulators in the U.S. first.

IE9 and Windows XP Consumers are not happy

There are a lot a people out there who still use Windows XP and are interested in Internet Explorer 9 but they feel that Microsoft is not being fair to consumers since IE9 will not work on XP.  Several consumers feel that Microsoft is trying to force people to upgrade to Windows 7 but a lot of people say they will stick with Windows XP for now.  The question is will Microsoft's policy with IE9 make people take a look at other operating systems in the near future like Apple or Linux  and lose more business.

Flash 10.2 now on Android adds Flash To Tablets

Adobe has finally released Flash Player 10.2 for Android.  This release means that  Flash for Android can be used with 3.0.1 Honeycomb, Google's OS for tablets.  While Flash 10.2 for Android 2.2 and 2.3 is a production general availability release, Flash 10.2 for Android 3.0 is a beta release.

For people who where hoping for a wifi only Zoom the wait is almost over.  The WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom will be priced at $599.00.  The tablet will run Honeycomb 3.0 Android and should offer a decent alternative to The iPad and iPad 2.

New Angry Birds Rio will be sold on Amazon instead of Android Market

If you want to get the new upcoming Angry Birds game don't go to the android market to find it.  It will only be available on Amazon's  new app storefront.  No one knows why Developer Rovio will be releasing the new game only through Amazon.

Verizon waives $35 Tablet activation fee

Verizon has announced that they waiving their $35 Tablet activation fee for month to month data plans related to the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets. The fee waiver is retroactive to March 1.

Apple gives $100 refund to recent iPad purchasers

According to blog Electricpig in the UK, Apple will be refunding the new price difference to customers that purchased an iPad between February 16th and March 2nd. “We were assured by Apple’s sales team that Apple would refund the £100 price difference, without any complicated returns and exchanges, so you can take advantage of the price drop on the original iPad,” writes the site. Apple’s standard return policy is 14-days, so if you purchased an original iPad in the last two weeks: get your head examined and then bring that tablet back to your local Apple Store for a price adjustment.

WordPress gets hit by large denial of service attack

Blog host WordPress.com was the target of a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack earlier today described by the company as the largest in its history.

As a result, a number of blogs--including those that are a part of WordPress' VIP service--suffered connectivity issues. That includes the Financial Post, the National Post, TechCrunch, along with the service's nearly 18 million hosted blogs.

Protect Your Android Phone From Being Hacked By Malicious Apps


A free Android app called Lookout that will scan anything you download to your phone for malware.  Some android users have used Lookout before, but haven't found a need for it until now.

Download it for free in the Android Market and allow it to run in the background. Lookout will notify you if it finds a virus or malware on your phone.

So far, it looks like three developers are responsible for the malicious apps. If you see an app from we20090202, Kingmall2010, or Myournet do not download it. (info from business insider)

Toshiba recalls 33 Laptop Models sold since January 9th 2011


The affected laptops won’t catch on fire or fall apart right away, but Intel discovered that there was an issue with some of the Serial ATA ports in the chipsets which could degrade over time and result in poor performance of hard drives and DVD drives.

If you purchased one of the Toshiba laptops below Toshiba asks that you return your laptop to the store you purchased it from for a full refund. Before you return your laptop you should back up all of your data to an external hard drive or if it is small enough upload it to Dropbox. You should also use a tool to wipe your hard drive of personal information.

Comcast releases Xfinity TV remote control app for Android devices

After debuting on the iPad and iPhone, Comcast has finally released its Xfinity TV app for Android. Right now it only supports basic features like remote controlling cable boxes, scheduling DVR recordings and searching the VOD library but other features like video streaming to the app and tuning to VOD on the TV will be add later, just like on iOS.
